BlackBerry Bold 9900 Versus Curve 8900

Each BlackBerry phone is classified into a specific series depending on its functions and features. The organization that develops all these BlackBerry devices is known as Research In Motion, and among their devices are the BlackBerry Bold and Curve phones. The Bold series includes several phone models, namely the Bold 9000, 9650, 9700, 9780 and 9900/9930; while the Curve series includes the Curve 8300, 8900, 8500, 9300 and 9350. BlackBerry Curve series phones were first released in 2007, while the BlackBerry Bold series phones were released in 2008. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 and the Bold 9900 have similarities and difficulties. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 was also referred to as the BlackBerry Montana and was unveiled in May 2011; while the Curve 8900 was unveiled in November 2008. The network bands of each of these phones is also different and this is because the Bold 9900 supports a 2G network in GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and CDMA 800/1900, while the Curve 8900 supports only GSM 850/900/1800/1900. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 supports a 3G network in Dual Band HSDPA and CDMA 2000 1xEV-DO, while the Curve 8900 does not support a 3G network.
The size of these two phones is also different in that the Bold 9900 measures 115 X 66 X 10.5 mm while the Curve 8900 measures 109 X 60 X 13.5 mm. Both these phones have been designed with a QWERTY keyboard. The processors of these two phones are different, as the Bold 9990 has a 1.2 GHz processor while the Curve 8900 has a 512 MHz processor. The memory capacity is also another point to distinguish these two phones and this is because the Bold 9900 has an internal memory of 8 gigabytes and a 768 megabytes RAM, while the Curve 8900 has a 256 megabytes ROM. Both these phones have external storage capabilities for expanding the storage capacity through microSD slots that can go up to 32 gigabytes.
The screen size of these two phones differs and this is because the BlackBerry Bold 9900 has a 2.8-inch screen and the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has a 2.4-inch screen. The display type for the Bold 9900 is a TFT capacitive touch screen, while the Curve 8900 is TFT only. The screen resolution for the Bold 9900 is 640 X 480 pixels and the Curve 8900 is 480 X 360 pixels. The camera in the Bold 9900 is 5.0 megapixels with a resolution of 2592 X 1944 pixels; the Curve 8900 is 3.15 megapixels with a resolution of 2048 X 1536 pixels. Both have video recording capabilities with the Bold 9900 having 720p and the Curve having 240 X 180 pixels.
