The user is not bound to a specific network for a long period of time and can therefore shift to networks that offer the user more advantages for their mobile phone requirements. This will also enable the user to enter into short contracts on a monthly basis. No-contract phones are less binding.
The user pays almost the same amount of money for both of the options, with a bit of variation where personal use and preference are considered. For the monthly contract deals, the cost of voice messages, text messages and data transfer is highly subsidized depending on the performance of the phone. This option is therefore, most suited for the high performance smartphones such as the iPhone 4, which offer an extensive use of speed and efficiency. The user is offered the opportunity to upgrade their contract and get more advanced ones towards the end of the contract period.
The disadvantage in these contract deals is that regardless of the free phones offered, the user is held to a specific service provider for the duration of the contract period, and they have to wait for it to expire before they can go elsewhere. The no-contract phone, or pay-as-you-go option, is a better route since the user can change their service provider at will.
