The compact cameras are designed in such a way that they are very easy to use. NOTE THAT these cameras sacrifice the advanced features and the quality of picture for the purpose of simplicity and compactness. The images produced by these cameras can be stored in the JPEG format which is a lossy compression. The word lossy means that the quality of the pictures may be lost when they are being compressed for storage.

Most of the cameras of this nature have internal flash this is in most cases of low power but which is very sufficient for the objects that are near. In almost all the camera, there is the live preview that is used in the framing of the photo. Most of them have motion picture capability that is limited.
