BlackBerry Bold and Curve phones are designed with several similarities. Although the BlackBerry Bold Series is a bit more expensive than the BlackBerry Curve Series phones, it has more premium materials including soft touch leather, metal and carbon fiber which are not available in the BlackBerry Curve Series phones, as they have glossy plastic features. The BlackBerry Bold 9000 specifications include a camera of 2.0 megapixels with 4x digital zoom and a flash, as well as JPEG encoding. The Bold 9000 is also designed to support GPS with extended maps. The input procedure can either be done through the QWERTY keyboard or the trackball. The Bold 9000 has a half VGA 480 by 320 pixel HD resolution color display TFT LCD. The BlackBerry Bold 9700, which is also known as the Onyx, is another Bold Series phone.

The Bold 9700 has an optical track pad, an on board memory of 256 megabytes and a 3.2-megapixel camera that has auto focus and a LED flash. The display of the Bold 9700 is 480 by 360 pixel half VGA color resolution. The Bold 9700 also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Micro USB. The BlackBerry Bold 9650 includes built-in Wi-Fi, on board storage of up to 512MB and an optical track pad. Its processor has a speed of 528 MHz and also has a 3.2-megapixel camera which is available as an option. BlackBerry Bold 9780 was unveiled in November 2010.

This phone has specifications such as an optical track pad, support for Wi-Fi, a Micro USB and Bluetooth. Other features include a 5.0-megapixel camera and an on board memory of 512 megabytes. The BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 is the last in this series of phones and is also referred to as the Bold Touch. It uses the BlackBerry OS 7, has a QWERTY keyboard, an optical track pad, a 5.0-megapixel camera, a 1.2 GHz processor and 768 megabytes RAM. It also has a built-in GPS as well as Bluetooth support.
