• It can progress to more severe condition. The tissues surrounding the Eustachian tube may swell due to an upper respiratory infection.
• Children are found more prone to otitis media because of their shorter Eustachian tube. Children’s tube is less stiff and narrower also. The treatment plan may be of various kinds such as
• Symptomatic: in this condition oral and topical analgesics are used to treat the painful condition of otitis media.
• Antibiotics: most of the cases get rid of by the above mentioned measures; otherwise antibiotics are used to treat the condition although they leave adverse effects.
• Tympanostomy tube: this treatment is applied on some chronic cases that got affected 6 or 4 times in a year
• Alternative therapies: sometimes other treatments which are not proved in the medical science are used to treat.
