The top-shelf LED screens have not only rivaled the picture quality of the plasma TVs, but they also outpaced them in speed.
The BenQ XL2720Z, the screen maker's latest 27-inch gaming monitor, of which the screen packs an even higher refresh rate (up to 144MHz) and enhanced motion blur reduction.
Design
The XL2720Z gaming monitor measures 21.5 x 25.2 x 1 inches (W x H x D), and has the 27-inch 1,920 x 1,080 TN panel. The monitor has plastic trim and capacitive buttons, all of which is supported by a multi-point adjustable stand.
There is also the plethora of ports on the back: two HDMI, D-Sub, DVI-DL, and standard DisplayPort. However, BenQ has removed the ball on audio, replacing it with a single 3.5mm headphone jack as its only source of audio-out.
Specifications and performance
The XL2720Z is phenomenal when used as desktop monitor. It has a 12,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. A 1,920 x 1,080 resolution may not be the highest around, but it is more than enough to play CPU-heavy FPS games in utmost detail.
Within the menus, blur reduction is toggle-able, and the aspect ratios can be managed to 4:3, 5:4, 16:10 or 16:9. Meanwhile, brightness, contrast, color and saturation, like other monitors, can all be adjusted as well.
The good points
The XL2720Z is one of the best for gaming. The nimble, color-appropriate and sharp display produces a picture that's a pleasure to look at for hours thanks to the built-in blue light filter.
If you have a GPU that can handle it, gaming is guaranteed to be exceptional at in full HD. And the menu buttons are always there to fine-tune any image attributes, if needed.
The USB ports are also a very helpful touch. The included preset-switching peripheral is good too.
The bad points
The XL2720Z is an expensive. There is a lack of audio-out options. There are no built-in speakers, and without optical audio output it is pretty humble in terms of audio quality.
The final verdict
The BenQ XL2720Z is an unrivalled premium gaming monitor. The slim, sleek and aesthetically pleasing screen, however, carries a price tag to match. But don’t worry; if you need the monitor in low price, you can get it for just $85 on Bidwow. If you haven’t checked the Bidwow site yet, do so as soon as possible.
