A Guide to Organising Hen Night Activities

Our North American cousins call it a “Bachelorette Party.” We call it Hen Night; a celebration for only us girls. While the lads may have a debauched evening or weekend of sordid antics we girls are inclined to enjoy a more refined event. Not to say we can’t enjoy Chippendales or male strippers but we tend to keep etiquette at the forefront. Stag Night may humiliate or menace the groom and the guests. Happily we lasses observe a more common civility. GoWild recognizes that while the laddybucks may be myopic in their pursuit of carousal the ladies will want to choose from a wider variety of activities. Thus we present our primer on organising an event that’s sure to honour the bride-to-be with taste and, if desired, with a tad of naughty.

First, since manners and good behaviour are to be observed, the organiser (usually a very close friend and bridesmaid in the wedding) will consult with the bride in all matters. A venue away from the bride’s or her parent’s home is a must; it is taboo for a party in honour of the bride-to be hosted by the same. If the hostess is so inclined and has the resources she may bear the costs of the event but more typically expenses are shared. An exception may be made for the bride-to-be; this determination is one of the first decisions made while planning the event.
This event can be an intimate affair between the honoree, bridesmaids and other close friends of the bride-to-be or can be expanded to a more inclusive affair. Note that this is NOT a bridal shower as no gifts are exchanged. In fact, the bridal shower should be held well before Hen Night.

The thoughtful organiser will include someone to take photos or video – just make sure to set ground rules beforehand. You’ll want to review any images before they grace the pages of Facebook or Pinterest! She will also designate someone to manage the care of gifts that the bride-to-be will receive.

Usually occurring in the evening about a week prior to the wedding, Hen Night may include dinner or racier fare if the participants are of a merry mind. Some organisers may opt for a themed event such as a “Pampering Party” featuring massages, facials and guiltless hors d’oeuvres like fruit juices. More staid alternatives include a cooking class or a tea party.

But … GoWild specializes in spicier events! We can provide talent for themed parties that feature policeman, fireman or other “manly” characters. We offer a package that includes a topless waiter who lavishly serves your guests libations and glamour for two hours until one of our hunky guys entertains the lasses with a three song striptease. Of course the lady of the hour will be the recipient of a personalized lap dance delivered with distinguished consideration.

Certainly GoWild can deliver a more sedate experience for your Hen Night. Cocktail parties, wine tastings or even an enjoyable Fun Girls Night out – we can help plan your event that will appeal to everyone’s comfort zone.
