Essay Topics & Philosophy

Students love to complain about the applicability of some subjects to real life. Perhaps, it’s just a scenario characteristic of skyrocketing tuition fees and checking its worth. On the other hand, it may also be a case of ignorance for the right links – from subject to life applications. Students love to complain about the applicability of some subjects to real life. Perhaps, it’s just a scenario characteristic of skyrocketing tuition fees and checking its worth. On the other hand, it may also be a case of ignorance for the right links – from subject to life applications.

But no such thing will have to commence while studying Philosophy. The general assumption regarding this subject is that most outputs of Philosophy come from real life itself. Hence, discussions will usually contain everyday life scenarios, as well as, your essay topics.

Writing application on paper

Such infusion might require simple scenes: picking stones, walking down an alley, crossing a bridge. However, it may also include complex scenes: like a comparative analysis between talking to an attractive woman whilst standing in a swinging bridge and talking to the same woman whilst sitting in a park bench. With Philosophy, you could trust everything to get intriguing.

Now, upon working with the said themes, notice that your piece tends to sound (if read aloud) like a rambling person. Rambling is fine – as long as not in an aimless way. More than just rambling, these courseworks promote reasoning, an incessant formulation of arguments and counterarguments.

Vast and zigzags are good points

Philosophy essay topics, on your mind, entail a lot of zigzagging directions. And while this vastness helps you meet the required word count, it also vividly marks the comprehensiveness you are trying to achieve. That is, argue and counter-argue until you exhaust all forms of excuses, validity and even time.

Traditionally, you will have to top it all with a sort of conclusion that doesn’t necessarily surmise anything, offer any solution, but synthesises prior content and suggests a view.

In a light of your own

While discussions, debates, and compositions attempt to ensure that established thinking systems and concepts are stuck on you, you’ve got another aspect to take care of: your own Philosophy. The subject empowers your own thinking; hence, why not put it into use?

Perhaps, in the case your tutor permits your personal exploration of unique essay topics, this possessed level of thinking or rather, philosophising can be put to test. To others it may sound funny to have to counter your own made arguments, but previous writing and discussions have taught you that it’s the best way.
Testing it with complex scenarios

Apart from tying close the Philosophy subject with life applications because it is the most natural thing to do – you can also use amplified versions of life scenarios to your personal Philosophy. For instance, your Philosophy can be applied to a wandering dog, and then escalates with a dog whose owner is acutely sensitive (with the animal’s behaviour).
